The days are now longer and that means more time to craft! I don’t know about you but the sunny days make me feel more creative. Maybe it’s just that the sun leaves me feeling happier and with a sunnier disposition. It could be that fact that there is always a street fair going on somewhere close by in the city I live in. Whatever it is, I craft more. I want to craft more. I have more of those “I can make that” moments. I love that feeling. This is part of the reason I have my own person craft store in my garage. I get home and I am ready to get started. Natural sunlight is the best sun to see you finished projects in. Also, the warm weather is better for a lot of crafts. Things like resin and some paints respond better to the warmer temperatures. You should go and craft right now! Have fun crafting!

Jewelry

I’m not one to follow along with fashion trends because I know what I like. I noticed that chunky jewelry is back in fashion! I love chunky jewelry especially necklaces! It may be because I grew up watching The Flintstones and Wilma and Betty always wore those fabulous stone necklaces. Whatever the reason, I’m excited they are back “in”. Chunky jewelry is also the easiest to make. Anyone can sit down for an hour and make an entire matching set (necklace, bracelet and earrings). I really do mean anyone. The larger the beads, the less space is required in your piece. You don’t need to get too excited with multiple strands or other elaborate designs. Go down to your local craft store, find some fun chunky beads, some smaller round beads or “E” beads and your findings (stringing material like tiger tail, a clasp for each necklace and bracelet and earring hooks). That’s all you need to get started! You could even do something as simple as adding chain and it would be that much quicker. I will be throwing a couple things together tonight that I will make sure i post pictures of. I can’t wait to get started! Let me know how yours turn out!

Home Decor

I don’t know about you but I LOVE holidays! Any holiday! Seasons, too! If you are like me and like to put up a little decoration for Memorial Day, or like to add the feel of the season to your home, you know it can be an expensive habit. Besides, it is so much more fun to make your own. When friends stop by and admire your decorations, you get to give yourself a little kudos for it.

Odds And Ends

I was at the store the other day looking for some martini glasses. I found these really cool ones that had funky designs on them and I fell in love! Then I looked at the price. They wanted $20 a piece for them! I don’t know about you, but I can be kind of clumsy and I tend to break glasses. As I continued my search I found a set of 4 glasses for $20. Of course these weren’t as nicely decorated. Then it hit me, I could make these plain ones look as nice (if not better) as the more expensive ones. And to top it off, it would cost less! This is always appealing. Having already had experience with glass painting I knew exactly which paints (vitrea by Pebeo) to buy. I am really happy at the way they turned out. It was so easy and it didn’t take up much of my time. Make your own!
