Painting My Own Martini Glasses

March 20, 2008

I was at the store the other day looking for some martini glasses. I found these really cool ones that had funky designs on them and I fell in love! Then I looked at the price. They wanted $20 a piece for them! I don’t know about you, but I can be kind of clumsy and I tend to break glasses. As I continued my search I found a set of 4 glasses for $20. Of course these weren’t as nicely decorated. Then it hit me, I could make these plain ones look as nice (if not better) as the more expensive ones. And to top it off, it would cost less! This is always appealing. Having already had experience with glass painting I knew exactly which paints (vitrea by Pebeo) to buy. I am really happy at the way they turned out. It was so easy and it didn’t take up much of my time. Make your own!

Lettering in your scrapbook with the Cricut

February 24, 2008

What happened to photo albums? They turned into scrapbooks! A scrapbook is a great way show off your life in a colorful and entertaining way. I started scrapbooking in the 90’s and so much has changed since then. Personally, I enjoy basic scrapbooks. Nothing to fancing but still so much more than a photo album. You could just fill your book with pictures but I don’t know about your memory but mine isn’t always the best. This means you need to put some words on your pages.

I loved sticker letters! Learning how to write in different fonts didn’t really appeal to me when I could just buy sticker letters. This is great since stickers can be repositioned if they don’t turn out just right. The only problem is, there are only so many types of letter stickers in so many sizes. I always liked to stock up so your not constantly making that run for the local craft store. This can become quite costly!

Then I found Provo Craft – Cricut Personal Electronic Cutter! This is a great thing! It lets you choose your font AND your size! Its all right there at your fingertips. The only thing you need to keep handy is paper. Any scrapbooker knows that is an easy task. I will never buy another sticker letter again!

Personalized Home Decor

February 22, 2008

So, here’s the deal. If you want to add decorative elements to your home, you can do it yourself. If you can imagine it. you can create it. This is a great way to unwind after a long week. You can just focus on the task at hand instead of the week past. I find the process of thinking about what you want and then the putting it together really relaxing. Just make sure your work area is free from excess clutter like work you brought home, the mail, or the kids school projects. If you can eliminate these things it makes focusing alot easier!
